Lutefisk :) Yes, I am a lutefisk lover!
It is dried cod who have layed in lye/asid... delicious if you get the one who have been the perfect time in lye.

Where in Lofoten are you from Anneli?
Dad bought his fathers house at Reine and use it as weekend house (I'm from Bodø). My other grandad lived at Moskenes. Close relatives at Sørvågen too. This year I biked in bikini & shorts to Å.

Fiskekake in Turkey is very diffrent from the ones here. Do you want some pakages of "Lofoten's" fiskekaker and a tin Vesterålens fiskeboller (the green/yellow tin)? "Lofoten's" is in the shops here in Oslo now.

There is now 2 fish shops that sells fishburgers at Reine and Hamnøy. Also very very popular with (foreign) tourists.

Isn't Minnesota where it is lots of people with norwegian ancestors? Sons of Norway over there use to have huge norway-days (I have not been there).

Lutefisk season starts in a month time. Even huge here in Oslo.
...and some even eats lutefisk WITH brunost....

I understand that there is a large Norwegian contingent in Minnesota. The lutefisk party I mentioned was in Connecticut, and the fish was sent over from Minnesota by my friends's parents. Apparently, they have importers serving the large community.

Hi Anneli,
It was nice to meet you at the Newbies dinner so I just wanted to say hi as well :)

Also I must say that this lutefisk delicacy sounds very interesting...!

Welkome to the group!

Why always when talking or meeting people form Nordern Europe countries you always end talking about fish details, high taxes, wood, long cold winter!!! There should be something more interesting to talk about in those countries?

I tried emigrating to Norway before, but the language barrier made it difficult to find a job. Even for waiter jobs they require you to speak Norwegian fluently, even though everyone understands English. I still hope to move to Scandinavia at some point in the future, after a lengthy time in Turkey.
