hola! ciao! hi! hallo! ni hao!
Hi there! I'm Selcen -former engineer, recent sale executive : ) from Istanbul -hometown Izmir. I have been living in Istanbul for 7 years- except last year which I spent in Barcelona for my graduate studies. I also had the experience of living in Italy and Germany for the summer language courses. I like learning new languages; reading history books, mythology, archelogy, politics; Latin music and dance; European and Far Eastern Cinema ecc.. Parlo l'italiano, hablo español, ich sprache ein bisschen Deutch, and a little bit of chinese which I am about to forget : )
Mi piace molto parlare in italiano! Allora se ci sono italiani qui, ci mettiamo in contatto, ok?
Y tambien me gusta mucho hablar en español! : ) Me gustaria estar en contacto con los españoles si hay algunos aqui!
Take care..

Hoy Shin,
benvenuto al Forum. Dove hai studiato in Italia? Guess Firenze.
Ho vissuto 3 mesi a Smirne, nella zona di Alsancak. E' un paesotto molto carino anche se non ha niente a che vedere con Istanbul. Infatti chissa' perche' tutti finiscono qui!
Cosa significa SHIN?
A presto,
Mattia

Hi Mattia, I learned italian at the Istituto Italiano e di Cultura a Izmir; but I spent one month living in Perugia : )
Izmir is a really modern and modest city. Well nothing compares to Istanbul.. There is peace, here is chaos.. There people are not so worried to gain money, but here people die for it.. Maybe one day I go back to Izmir when I am finished with Istanbul.. Who knows
Hmm like I said before I didn't know that shin had a meaning in english. I guess in italian it is "stinco". Weird, no ?

You say Rubbish, I say Garbage a la Caravaggio, a brilliant but mad Italian master painter. He may have worn a cape at one point but I don't really know for sure.
BTW, stinco is your other name then?

yeah for a nick "stinco" is really a kind of weird..
I know some of the teachers who were working at the italian kultur merkezi in izmir, they're good so your italian should be fine as well I was working at the consulate in cumhuriyet meydani so I was in contact with them.
Izmir is modern if you consider all the seaside going from mavisehir to goztepe, but once you go more and more to the internal part where the immigration from the east has spread out then you can barely remember to be in Izmir. It is a city of 3,5 mln habitants I guess, and I had the impression to live in a place with 200k people since you are around always in the same places Anyway had really great time there.
In which sector are you working here?

you were working at the consulate? brrrr : ) they are really good at creating problems!! luckly on the second day I had the chance of meeting one of the gentlemen working there who helped me a lot to receive my visum
well..about the immigration issue..it is the same in most of the cities in turkey. actually not only in turkey but in all over the world the cities face the same situation.. for example in Barcelona the Raval region and Sarria region were completely opposite! actually it suprised me a lot to see the immigrants living at the sea side and rich people living further away the sea which is the opposite case in turkey : ) we always prefer to live closer to sea. by the way which part of italy are you from?
I am working in the consumer electronics sector. It's really a tough and competitive sector.. What about you? I guess you are also in the sales business, no?
