Hi Mike,
Welcome as well. I've just recently joined the site too and it seems like it works very well.
So are you living in Europe or Asia, what brings you to Istanbul etc. ?!

Thanks everyone. I am living here in Arnavutkoy on the European side. Found a great place with some cool views of the Bosphorus. I am working for Intel on an assignment here for a couple of years... So far, so good.

 Welcome
Hi Mike,
Welcome to Istanbul! I used to live in the US for more than a decade. I have lived in several states but haven't had the chance to visit Oregon. I live very close to Arnavutkoy. It is indeed a great place to explore!
Cheers

Hi MikeB. Hope you're enjoying it here in İstanbul. I certainly enjoyed the view of Oregon (Florence, Coos Bay) from the air. Beautiful coastline and I just found out why through Wikipedia "the Oregon Coast is unique in that the whole coastline is public land. Oregon law prohibits private ownership of coastline property." What a great idea.

Flygirl/Mirage... Oregon is a great place. You should definately visit if you have time. People there are very environmentally consious... so your fact about the coast line does not surprise me. It is one thing I miss about home. I think I inhaled at least a pack of cigarettes today... and I don't smoke
Blush... Glad you had a great time in Paris. Sorry you are feeling homesick. I hope it passes once you have a chance to move into your place. We will have to catch up soon.

Hmmmm...Now, how can we take the coastline from military control here in Turkey?
I'm always wanting to explore random Black Sea coastal towns further, but then I am stopped by barbed wire and a red sign that features a man with a gun. I'm pretty well convinced they're hiding a franchise of resorts that are only open to the military elite...
Uh hum, but I digress. Welcome to the forum!
