 Irish woman in town
Hello all.
I've been in Istanbul for 3 months now and am only getting around to registering on this great site. I'm Irish and married to a French guy (in Istanbul for his job) - so rugby matches are fun in our house. At the minute I'm jobless but will start to investigate the Istanbul job market for Irish women with no Turkish after the summer. Otherwise I'm kept busy with two kids (4 and 2 yrs old) and my marathon training. Would love to meet up with other Irish, runners, anyone with kids of similar age looking to play (in English or French) or anyone else..

hello and welcome
I have heard about people regularly training for marathon on this web site.
For rugby matches, I used to play and the only thing I am desperate about Istanbul is missing the next world cup ... if you have a 40'' flat screen and fresh beers you can contact me

Olivier - I can only guess that you are French ?? and if so you will need all the beers you can get your hands on for France Ireland world cup match in Sept. Sorry don't have big TV but I can find somewhere to watch the match with a bit of ambiance- if you are still around you can help my husband drown his sorrows...
Jellyfish - I live on the European side - what about you?

We live on the Asian side but can easily come over if you're not too far out. I'm more or less half way between Kadıköy and Uskudar, so very easy to jump on a boat

Hi all
Gb Sahne - my almost 4 year old would love a friend of similar age so sounds good but not free this Sat. Let me know for next week.
Jellyfish - I can't send PM's yet to give you my details but Iive in Bebek - you can send me your email by PM and I'll contact you.
Jonathon - I'm called red fire because when I run there's red fire behind me.
Olivier - thanks for Pm as you can see I'm now in contact with the runners. My husband just watches rugby but tells everyone he played at 'la fac'.

red fire,
saw your other post about doing your second marathon.
Where and when will you be running it. What time did you do on your first and what is your target for the next? What type plan are you training?
Sorry for asking so "personal" questions. Just trying to see how we can make people's running plans match.
Might see you running this weekend.

red fire,
There are a whole host of other questions you'll be asked but I'll leave all of those to RSA.
Welcome to Istanbul - you arrived around the same time I did, how are you finiding it?
I have also run the marathon twice but never trained properly. As for Rugby I used to play but haven't for a while now. Definitely up for watching the World cup, unfortunately I'm an English supporter but as my mother is Irish I will always support them too unless of course they Play England. Always up for some French Bashing - sorry Oliver!
Michael

Hi Jonathan - last one was a bit mad as I decided 10 weeks before to actually run it (Dublin marathon) and did a google search 'how to run marathon in 9 weeks' and followed an intensive training but ended up with knee problems. In the end I ran it with a finish time of 4 hours 1 min so this time I'm aiming for 3.5 hours.... Am looking at different training schedules from books, internet etc.. but haven't decided. Now I'm running 5 times a week around 50-55km but will start official training beginning of July (will run Dublin again on Oct 29th). Average speed around 5.15-5.20/km but that's probably my weakness as on marathon day was ready to give up at 30km. Does that answer your questions?? Hope to run this weekend if you guys are although my parents-in-law are staying with us so have to work out if it is rude...

We're away for a couple of weeks from 28/06 so won't be back until 8th / 15th ish. By then maybe you'll be able to PM, so we can arrange something. If your's is coming up for 4 then there should only be about 8 months in it.
