Bhaklava is a different spelling of the dessert baklava - thanks to a misspelling of my name by Arlo Guthrie.
Haven't been to Greece - I was referring to Athens, GA. lol!
Carrefour carries turkey - not Butterballs, but better.
What kind of work are you doing with clients in TX? Houston - eeewwww! Too much traffic and smog for my taste. (and I love here instead? Go figure )
Where are you living here?

Thanks for spelling it out for me. O ok don't know too much about Athens Georgia other then UGA is there .
And actually we shop at the Carrefour by us and they lloked at us like a green monster when we asked for a whole Turkey. Which Carrefour are you referring to? When my husband gets back from practice we will go tonight and get one?
Oh I have a Marketing Firm that I am currently up and running. It's in beginning stages though b/c I just left my job last year after my son was born to be a stay at home mom and travel with my husband. I have already gotten a little bored so I decided to take on a few clients Yahoo, and Texas Pet Boutique highend puppies and dog breeder to the stars.
We are living in Darussafaka in Sariyer.

PS sorry for the mispelling and sloppy typing. My 11 month old is holding onto my arm as I type. He's my little shadow

Right now the Carrefours just carry turkey chunks, not the whole thing. But, they're big pieces that will easily feed the family. I shop at the one in Acibadem, on the Asian side.
Some butchers will carry whole fresh turkeys just before New Years. I've already told my local butcher to hold one for me when they get them.
Sounds like your business is really upand running with the clients you have already.
Not to worry about having a little one crawling on you while you type - I have a 6 year old who still does that.

How funny Rene, it looks like we have more in common than just first names (I'm a Rene too, just spelt 'Renai') and I live in Darussafaka too! Yes, Istinye Park breaks my heart with the prices and I am always on the look out for bargain shopping which I havent found too much of. I love to wonder around Taksim and down Istiklal to Tunel and Beyoglu and you can sometimes find some hidden treasures there. Let me know if you are up for a trip there one day, would be great to have a shopping companion!

Bit late now but there are quite a few turkeys hanging up in the Taksim fish market - bit on the skinny side though.
Welcome to Istanbul. I often wonder what it would be like to relocate with kids - a nightmare?
Did it with a boyfriend - that was hard enough
Enjoy!

Hi Rene and welcome to Istanbul and to this forum,
I have a suggestion for you; if you'd like to meet with other American women in Istanbul, they have their own little club.
http://www.awi-istanbul.com/
Also you might want to contact the U.S. consulate which is really close to your house, they might have some events, gatherings etc.
Good luck!
Vic.
