 Lawyer in Istanbul
Hello all in the forum
I've just arrived in Istanbul on secondment from London for 6 months work as a trainee solicitor. I was tipped off about the forum by another English guy in the office.
I'm living and working in the 4.Levent/Levent area.
I'm keen to get involved in some sports out here so if you're a member at Hillside health club (Etiler branch) i'm up for a game of squash.
Also looking to watch the 6 nations rugby games this weekend if anyone can recommend a bar?
I'm hoping to make the party on Friday if someone can send me the details that'd be great.

Welcome Alters - can I call you Al for short? (Simpsonesque I know ) - The rugby will be on at Balans in Beyoglu and there is usually a large crowd. PM me with your email address / phone number and I'll send you some details.

Al is fine - but I want to avoid being branded with the Simpson's connotations in conjures!
I can't PM as just a newbie - any other way to get in touch? I guess Balans is the name of the bar? I could just head there...

Sorry I forgot you couldn't PM. I'll PM you with my details. The Simpson reference was for an ex-poster of this forum not the cult cartoon series. Sorry. Balans is indeed a bar.

Welcome Alters! Do I know you from somewhere?
Balans is indeed the place for the Rugby and I cannot think of a finer man to watch it with than Jonny.

Here we go; First the Germans, now the lawyers... JC - you hoping Jonny will invite you round for clam shish?
As I don't do rugby, may I ask which firm or what area of law?
I'll leave the rest of the interrogation to the others And a big, warm 'Welcome' of course.

Welcome atlers. You've come to Istanbul at a good time; warmer weather, fun and sun around the corner. Make the most of your time in Turkey and I hope you enjoy it.
I realy enjoy that word "solictor". Being from the states and being on autopilot most of the time, I automatically relate that to "salesman". One more salesman or one more lawyer = the world is a better place. (Sorryvrgmh.. I can't type from the laughting fit)
Welcome once again.

Excellent. I love forum fights. This is the reply I got on a Turkish football forum discussing Fener's win over Seville last night.
"oz kanka your a faggot greek they gates raped by kristos papolpopusis every sunday in the confession box. why dont you take your beatup asshole back to the church where it belongs for some more ramming by your priest. GO FENERBAHCE!!!!! EN BUYUK FENER!!!!"
Beat that matey!

Let's just say I work with JC so if you know who/where that is then you'll know where I work! (Sadly it's not Mi6 despite the cryptic clue)

i'm stunned by the inference that you're off to do some "work", as in "money earning work"...... remember Jonny-boy; there are those amongst us who know your true role in life is to cook and clean for your fine lady-wife......
all praise to you, King of house-husbands the world over.......

Surely anyone who has a yacht as their picture/avatar (technical term) must be a bloody spy.

My God Jono, with that sort of talk it has clearly become two against one. However, I like the odds. Just because I don't go to a conventional place of work doesn't mean I don't work. Have you never heard of telecommuting? My apron strings are only loosely tied. Now, please wash your hands before supper is ready!
Oz - a superb reply from your evidently saracen friend. One day I hope to aspire to him. In the meantime I would just like to say that K-Y jelly will ease the pain and reduce the friction between you and your confessor. Or so it says on the label! Armed with this information, I sincerely hope you pass your digital examinations!
