Post Living in Turkey
Hi my name is Carolyn and I now live in Turgutreis, near Bodrum. I have been visiting Turkey for many years but previously stayed in Dalyan. I arrived in Turgutreis by sailing boat last August, having sailed around the world. I had some work done on the boat and visited her in January and didn't want to go home - so I didn't. I am renting a flat at the moment while waiting for my house to be built. It should be ready at the end of the year. I would like to buy a car but don't want to get my residency until I have my Tapu as I can then get it for longer. I have been told that it is now possible to buy a car without residency. Can anyone confirm this and tell me the procedure?

No idea about the visa and car questions but welcome to the forum. I'd suggest you post the questions in the visa, applications section.

Hi Carolyn,

is this the name of your ship: "Spicy Lady"? You must be pretty rich if you can afford to sail around the world and afterwards buy a house in Turgutreis.

Welcome to the forum and have fun where you are. Have you met "Bodrum Chic" yet?

Envious Jonathan? I thought you're happy with your big yellow crane, no?

Welcome Spicy Lady, what was the best thing you have seen in this world?

welcome to Turkey and to the forum...
Turgutreis is one of the best places I spent my time at. Considering I haven't visited the Mykonos yet :) I hope you also enjoy it.

Yes Spicy Lady is the name of the boat which I am currently trying to sell. Everything is relative - what is a lot of money in Turkey is very little in UK and it is surprisingly inexpensive to live on a boat if it has the wind to help with power! I haven't met Bodrum Chic yet - do tell me what it is? I am intrgued! Perhaps I am just being a bit 'blonde'.

It? Charming. You are quite right to be intrigued though. As for being blonde - that's usually my job. Welcome to the pleasure zone.
