 New Italian in Ankara
Merhaba everybody!
I moved this past wednesday to Ankara from the US (though I am Italian, originally). I face the prospect of sticking around for a couple of years, so I am determined to get to know the city in its entirety and make the best of it.
To start right, I would like to have your tips as to nice places to go for a drink and perhaps (hopefully I am not asking too much) listen to some cool music.
Any leads would be much appreciated. Please indicate on which particular day of the week (if any) any given place might be reccomended.
Grazie e ciao!

hi there - it seems that most of the fun seems to be had in Istanbul.
I went to Ankara for work sometimes - it was always a nice drive to the airport.....

Hi and welcome! I've heard that people who move from here to Ankara end up loving the place as it's just too stressful living in Istanbul! Enjoy!

Another Ankara dweller here. As Spine says, let us know if you want to meet up. Where in Ankara are you living? Also if you are into football (soccer) then we go to Super Lig matches quite often and you are more than welcome to join us.

I will spare the forum the rudiments of Turkish that I just learned in my first class this morning. And, perhaps uncharacteristically for an Italian, will try to be coincise:
1) I do think Ankara is fun;
2) I live off Arjantin Caddesi;
3) I am--of course--into soccer. As it happens I have three DVDs of last year's World Cup in case anyone wants to reminesce!
I am up to meet up with you guys. Give me the coordinates
yours cafuncelly

Cafuncello,
As I don't think you are able to see the activities section yet let me tell you about our plans for the football on Sunday, the first week of season:
Super Lig
Sunday August 12
Genclerbirligi v. Genclerbirligi Oftas
Kick off: 9 pm
Meeting at: Chopin Bar 6 pm (leaving for match about 8pm)
Chopin bar is in Kizilay (in one of the two bar streets - on the Inkilap sk, the same street as Net Piknik).
Below is a link to a google map for the bar
