Post Oldie but a goodie (kasarlandim, yani)
Hello All!

I will have been living in Turkey for 11 years come August--what might well be called all of my "adult" life, if we're assuming adulthood automatically comes with age...

I'm Jennifer, 34, married to Bilgehan who not only swept me off my feet at university but also proved to be the best student of American scatalogical slang of all my foreign friends in Michigan. He returned the favor and taught me all the argo I needed to know when we married and moved over here.

We were in Ankara our first year and then headed to Istanbul with its glorious private sector (and, of course, its views, cultural events, constant rush of activity, etc). Have been here ever since (in Etiler, for anyone who needs to borrow a cup of sugar sometime).

I'm a writer by training, though I've worn many caps, done many jobs here.

Have gotten to know many expat groups as well and this one seems like a great group of people to hang out with!

best,
Jen

Ah! Yes, I remember your profile from MyMerhaba! Welcome to this forum; I think you'll feel at home here, esp. with regard to scatological slang! I think I know your part of Etiler--I used to live in Camlik and it was gorgeous. Yine de hos geldin :)

Kief,

Yes, I was a writer for Istanbullshit for almost 3 years, til it went under. I've written here and there for TIME OUT and my first book is coming out in Sept in Eng and Turkish here (and later in USA)

starman,
with so many years in country, my spelling/grammar muscle has suffered definite atrophy. i'm afraid you won't get any guidance from me in spelling. don't point and laugh and my gaffs and i won't do so to yours...agreed?

Hey you lot! A little less of the womens lib on here, you know this is a politically incorrect forum.
