 hi there
hi everyone, i am moving to bodrum in the summer and hope this will eb a useful place to speak to people who are living in turkey and can share some of that local knowledge. i have 2 small children so am interested in finding pre schools and schools and how this process works in turkey and recommended schools in the bodrum area. i will be looking for work as an english teacher. i obviously want to make friends being new to the area too. my first pressing need is to find out the best and cheapest way of transporting our personal belongings eg clothes books etc we will not be taking furniture. im also wondering about flights i have heard it is cheaper to book return rather than a one way? how does this work. also advice on the best way to go with visas would be very much appreciated. i am married to a turk. i am planning to go on a holiday visa and then apply for a residence visa once in bodrum. i will sort out a work permit once and if i find work. i would like to know how much this willl cost if anyone knows about this. look forward to hearing from you, frannie

Hi Frannie,
welcome to the forum.
I am sure you will find a lot of the questions you are asking answered somewhere in the various informative sections of the forum. Also, if after you have gone through them, when questions are left you will be able to post them under those headings and get answers.
As this is in the introduction section, may be you can tell us more about yourself, like where you are from and how long you are going to be in Bodrum for.
Good luck with sorting out your new life.

Hi Frannie,
I see the guys have already helped you out with some of your queries which is nice. You never know, I might be useful too. Or not. Why Bodrum? Oh, welcome too.

Hi there, we have chosen bodrum as me and my husband both love the place, and we feel it will be a good place for our children to grow up. Im currently investigating schools for our boys and also job opportunities for me, i hope to find work as an english teacher. I would appreciate any advice from anyone who knows the area about good schools and also pre schools and colleges etc where i might look for work. I was also wondering if there is any chance you can get child care eg nursery funded by employers? this may be wishful thinking i know! look forward to hearing back from you thanks, frannie

Definitely wishful thinking though I would agree that (based on observation rather than first hand experience) it's a pretty good place for kids to grow up. What ages are your boys? What qualifications/experience (if any) do you have of teaching English? Should probably continue this in another section... Admins?

hi there, our boys are 2 and 4 so we are looking to find a pre school/nursery for them if we can find something affordable. I am almost trained as an english teacher (only 2 months left!) and will have a trinity tesol certificate when i finish, the training has included teaching practice as well as all the theory and practice of teaching. We will be moving to bodrum this summer, finally after 3 years of planning and saving and are all really looking forward to it. lol frannie
