RSA, none of the points you make are in the slightest way pertinent to this discussion. This is not about who wears what hat. This is not about whether or not "mistakes" need to be corrected. And it's not about the possession of testicles. It's about tone.

Would you care to address that issue? Are there any posters here who have hurt your feelings? If so, we're ready to listen with a sympathetic ear.

My penny's worth: Some posts here make me wince. I can quite understand why people would be put off/offended/alienated by the tone in some threads. But speaking personally, I get a kick out of the fiery stuff and will certainly click to read what some members have posted before I look at others. This is an open forum and we want diversity and a range of opinions, surely? What's needed is a basic level of civility.

The central issue is about volume of participation. I haven't been around long enough to see if posting has really declined. If so, it would be a great pity. Are there any stats available on activity volume?

EDIT: I could have sworn RSA mentioned testicles. But his post appears to have been edited.
Got to agree with Spine (again). I think testicles was mentioned by Arikan in response to the need of some people to grow a pair if they weere offended by what he wrote.

It was RSA mentioning testicles, not Arikan, if I am not mistaken, but Arikan has posted something here earlier, if I am not mistaken again, and it's not here any more, as is my previous post in this thread. Spooky...

both arikan and RSA mention testicles a lot - and yes the reference to testicles has been deleted

It appears that the worm has turned and the dimwits with no sources and no idea have spoken out.

Trying to keep things on topic and keep insults at bay. Anything that brings this subject off topic or has no relevance will be deleted.

You are censoring posts, yes? Can you please explain the relevance of the quoted paragraph to me, and why it wasn't deleted by you?
I would very much like to understand the criteria for relevance and off-topic on this forum.

the post was intended to be a subtle "hint" which was not taken.

Anyway, finally something has been said and that is the only reason that I posted again on this site. I enjoyed my expat life elsewhere and was hoping to find a similar scene in Istanbul. Hopefully when i return to Turkey, I will have the fortune to meet the nicer people on this site.

Ciao.

It is not censoring just keeping things tidy and as it clearly says in the category, irrelevant posts will be deleted.

I was replying to Rudiger, not you.
Which is the main reason why I replied to him by quoting.

Apparently you don't understand the concept of a public forum.
A topic is created for people to discuss, it's not that hard.

This makes no sense.
"yes to: diversity and opinions, but only if it doesn't: offend and/or alienate."

Every forum has a time when people post less, this hasn't anything to do with 5 members not liking other members.

I sent a message to a moderator telling him to delete my post if he didn't like it.

So, you know, go figure.

As Spine correctly states most of what you wrote is irrelevant as the discussion is about tone - I wonder what 'unbiased' source 'proves' people are dimwits or morons. Anyway, I want to pick up on one point from above regarding these mythical unbiased sources you mention. I hope you are taking the piss here because the idea that any source used here by any of the members including myself is not in some way biased is laughable. Of course if your definition of unbiased is one that agrees with you then I defer.
...Because you haven't been replying to people with an aggressive/degrading tone, right?

About the sources; some members post -factual- news, rather than opinions by a religious & political zealot.

I think anyone who has been to the meetings will know that they dont, well not normally anyway, turning into slanging matches as seen on the website. People can put on different personas and attitudes on the internet, normally an exaggeration of their normal personality, so it is best to play along, reply with the best you can, no need to bring the notions of the physical world into the virtual world.

Personally i feel the site would lose an appealing edge if it turned into either a "lets love everyone" atmosphere like Couchsurfers website (i know a very different sort of site to this) or into the sludge of My Merhaba, where conversation is a mindless circle of spam and idoicy.

(Written by GeorgieDavid) >no need to bring the notions of the physical world into the virtual world.<

What distinguishes the "physical world" from the "virtual world", in regards to this forum? The people who write the words here aren't bots, they are real people. Communication is via the written word, instead of the spoken word...that's really the only difference.
