Lurking around on the site doing bugger all
Dear admin types,
Sometimes I'm in EiT and then, leaving the window open, go off and do whatever else it is that I do during the work day (or night). My question is, does this use up or bugger up the bandwidth or whatever technical term it is for the site. In other words, would it be better that I actually close the EiT window, or does it not matter a jot?

there is no automatic refresh on any of the forum pages so no, it doesn't have any effect on the bandwith use from both sides.
edit: read below.

If I am logged in for a certain length of time, the Index refreshes itself.

it shouldn't bugger up bandwidth although misconfigured proxy servers could cause extensive bandwidth usage. see explanation to charly's post below.

it is the proxy server at your company's network that does this! in the past we've had members who were connecting to EiT through a misconfigured proxy server i.e. refreshing the page every 1 - 5 minutes or so. in this case the administrators will delete such member accounts regardless, since we cannot exclude foul play by whomever may be at the other end of such connection!
