I was having a read of the old site - great thread titles like:
Excuse me while I play with myself
Can women get hard-ons?
Let's just cut the crap and have a good row
Vibrators...a godsend...or the work of the devil?
Mother-in-law atrocities
Ah I miss the old days of total unPCness and general naughtiness!
As Musulko said (I believe) earlier, the site has changed and developed, along with our attitudes to each other. The people who would prefer expat only forums/parties are expressing something we discussed many many months ago - but as you can see, the direction of the forum is towards an open but secure(ish) environment that welcomes genuine contributors or those who we find just plain funny! We don't want a free-for-all membership nor do we want an expat only membership (instead we have an inclusive one which actually puts a lot more pressure on the admins).

expats non expats turkish people that have been abroad turkish people who have not ben abroad in my view are all welcome and are all entitled to there opinions thats what makes this expat website as good as it gets and from what i have seen of it it works all you have to do is look at the amount of people at the expat parties, even when it was suggested that people should pay 10ytl to go if memory serves me correct almost everyone agreed and even some people saıd they would pay more ıf they had to. proof thıs sıte works i reckon. the more turkish people on this site the better i think am sure if we all thinkwe have all made some good friends that are turkish through this site. it makes every discussion argument and debate on this website all the more interesting. if someone wants to bitch about something turkish then i guess thats where everyone can use the pm or text on the phone. i dont have much experıence of other expat websıtes but personally ı cant fault the way thıs ıs run friendly space wıth some good debates and then to know that there ıs admıns there ready to boot out the people that abuse this site. my sister was askingme at xmas what is the best way to move abroad her and her husband are movıng to dubai she asked whats best way to settle ınto lıfe there, i only had one answer for her joın an expat sıte as good as thıs one and your of to a great start. so if upto me let turkish people joın once they have respect for everyone here that goes the same for expats, after all we are ın turkey arent we they know the country better than us, maybe ıts no harm those people arenot on thıs sıte no more

I've been a member of some exclusive groups who use that exclusivity for just this kind of chin-wagging and I've found it ultimately depressing to be around all that negativity. there is a fine balance between reality checks and wallowing in the negative. When that's what people surround themselves with, it just spirals downward and creates an increasingly negative world view of the local environment.

Exactly, Pollyanna! And that's why I was so happy to find this website/community - I find that everyone is realistically-positive here, and enjoying their "sejour" in Turkey. Simply said: if you don't like it here, go home! Don't like gripers!

Gilly
you never reveiled as you seemed you suggested you would one day, what you think about the subject.

Would you mind?
