site problems, october 10?

 site problems, october 10?
when i come to the site, i'm shown that i have 1 new msg and 4 new posts. this is the same as when i visited yesterday. same '1 new msg.' and same '4 new posts'. is expat in turkey not working properly? surely there must have been 1 post today??

hi matt, definitely sounds to me like your browser isn't updating the values of the cookies for this website correctly. all is fine for me both on Firefox and IE thus i suggest you log out from the forum, clear the cookies for this site and then try again. if in doubt see also this post about ' Clearing your cookies' FD

Yeah, it's working fine with IR6 as well, although it's not allowing me to upload GIF's as avatars, haven't tried .jpeg's though.

Have sometimes the same problem with Opera, just push refresh and it updates.

GBSahne wrote: Yeah, it's working fine with IR6 as well, although it's not allowing me to upload GIF's as avatars, haven't tried .jpeg's though. sorry GBSahne - not ignoring the issue with avatars as mentioned in your other post. the avatars issue has been around for some time and is due to the permission set up on our host and therefore outside of our control. however in the past JohnF was able to find a work-around in the code of the forum software for making this "sort of" work (sort of, because checks on size and dimension were no longer adhered to by our members, neither controlled by the forum software) the latest update in forum software has broken the code that made up JohnF's work-around. now one could argue we should fall back on the previous code-base but that would leave us very vulnerable from a security point of view and is an option we rather not like to take. thus that leaves us scrambling around support forums for a solution and we hope we will be able to offer to our members soon. but i wouldn't want to hold my breath as this may prove not as easy to find this time around.
