Post Borat: Cultural Learnings of America...
I don't use superlatives lightly, nor do I use them too often, but the following is the funniest fcuking trailer I've ever seen. I can't wait for the film.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan - Trailer G

For some reason I think this movie will be better than "ali g" the movie.
that first piece in america when that guy runs away from him is simply hilarious.

Since the Ali G movie was a pile of piles, I don't think it should be too difficult to improve upon it.

That guy running away is fcuking awesome.

Hmmm...Borat is ruffling some feathers in D.C.:

''Kazakh press secretary Roman Vasilenko said he was worried that some may take the Borat routine seriously. 'He is not a Kazakh. What he represents is a country of Boratastan, a country of one,' Vasilenko told Reuters.''

ok, this may sound stupid, but borat and jackass "number 2" are both supposed to be incredibly funny.

it's time to get a cheap laugh or 2

"In my country, they would go crazy for these two. Not so much..."

Fcukin-A, that looks hilarious, can't wait 'till it comes out on illegal video!

Today's Guardian has an article by the Kazakhstan ambassador. While I love Borat and find that the joke is on the Yanks, not Kazakhstan I think the ambassador has a point with this paragraph.

"Nor does Kazakhstan have the advantages of a well-connected diaspora to defend its interests in the same way as Israelis, Palestinians or Armenians. Again, Baron Cohen could have caricatured a powerful developing country - like Turkey, Brazil or India - but there would have been sharp reactions, perhaps even at a political level."

Yep, If Borat was a "Turk" I can imagine there would be uproar.

Fair enough. Sometimes, I do feel that Kazakhstan got the wrong end of the stick with this.

I'd have suggested Dağıstan. Based on my experience of studying with young men from Dağıstan for 8 months at TÖMER, Borat seems quite enlightened (and much more sanitary).

I dunno. Seems to me that the joke is mostly on the Americans. That's the way it's been on every "Da Ali G Show". Although "Borat" doesn't present Kazakhstan in a very good light, I have a feeling all the brouhaha will end up generating lots of interest in the country and probably an increase in tourism!

Edited to add: I could be very wrong about the tourism. :D Here's from LonelyPlanet: If you're not a fan of endless semi-arid steppe and decaying industrial cities, Kazakhstan (Kazakstan) may seem bleak, but those who enjoy remoteness, wide open spaces, lunar landscapes, long hypnotic train rides and horse sausage will definitely be in their element

Saw "Borat" Saturday afternoon then went to Carnegie Hall Saturday night to hear Mongolian throat singers (Ok - my tastes range :D ), but after leaving the performance we noticed the Wellington Hotel the next block down (The hotel "Borat" stayed in while in NYC.) My friend and I decided to go down and discuss how things went when he was there with the guy at the front desk. *THE FOLLOWING IS NOT IN THE MOVIE*. "Borat" tried to steal furniture from his room LOL!! But the guy at the front desk recognized him and said, "I KNOW who you are, I watch Da Ali G show." The desk guy said it was a wild night and he didn't seem very pleased about it when he was telling us about it :D
