 children of men
just got back from the watching this at the cinema. i highly recommend it. not sure if it's playing in turkey or coming soon, but well worth the 12 YTL
great story, lots of action and long shots/takes. much harder to do than cutting every 3 seconds. show's the planning that went into each and every shot. just beautiful.

I get really fed up with lazy cinemaphotography (or crappy directing) where they cut cut cut cut the scenes. Like Moulin Rouge. What many critics lauded as great cam work in some of the dance scenes was just chaotic and un-watchable.
Anyway, thanks for the tip.

I didn't like it. Too much style, and hardly any substance.

Harrowing at times (when the bus enters the camp comes to mind) and a bit crap at the end I thought...but after listening to discussion about the state of UK immigration and how people can't get healthcare, housing etc it all gets a bit hairy.

The only message I got from the film was that Alfonso Cuaron LOVES himself.

I enjoyed it. Original storyline, good camera work, edge of seat viewing. Agree with Charly though - poor ending and UK immigration issues - scary thought!
