37th Kyiv International Film Festival “Molodist” opened with "Duska" a new film by legendary director Jos Stelling.

Duska is Holland-Russian-Ukrainian co-production (by the way, one of the biggest for Ukraine today). The shooting partly took place in Kyiv, with Ukrainian crew and cast involved, and with the main part played by famous Kyiv-born Russian actor Sergey Makovetsky.

Actors Sergey Makovetsky and Gene Bervoets (famous for his leading roles in Stelling's previous works: Waiting Room, Flying Dutchman, No Trains No Planes, The Gas Station, Gallery)
Dutch and Russian film producers – Hans de Weers, Hans de Wolf, Erwin Godschalk, Yevgeniy Gindilis.

Jos Stelling is one of the most famous European directors, owner of the Dutch National Award in Art, nominated and awarded at the most prestigious international film festivals: Cannes, Venice, Moscow and others.

Duska is The Netherland's official submission to the Best Foreign Language Film Category of the 80th Annual Academy Awards (2008).

Short Synopsys:
Bob an intellectual film critic and screenwriter visits an obscure film festival in Kyiv, where he meets the poor but engaging vagabond Duska. "Whenever you're in Holland, do not hesitate to visit me," the over-enthusiastic Bob suggests, knowing for sure that Duska will never leave Kyiv.
He is therefore stunned when, a few months later, Duska is standing at Bob's door.
The two men start living together. Duska tries his very best to be nice, but Bob becomes increasingly annoyed. Normal communication is impossible, because Duska only speaks Russian and a genuine war threatens to break out between two men. Finally, Bob wrestles Duska out of his life. But when he's gone, he misses him deeply and so he travels back to Kyiv to find his one and only true friend.
