Post BORAT!!!!!!!!!
Just been to see it. I'm still laughing my heads off. This film will keep me bursting out in spontaneous laughter in front of complete strangers for no apparent reason for months to come. Do yourselves a favour, run don't walk.

Bond - Loved it for the action and the ball breaking but still don't fancy what's his name.
Borat - Loved it but it's just a sequence of sketches, luckily none too long. Aya pointed out that Cohen spoke Hebrew throughout.
Tonight it's Naked Lunch with Barbarella to follow.

Oy vey! Some words and sentences were Hebrew; most others gobbledygook.

Though Azamat spoke Armenian throughout.

Yeah she said she couldn't understand the man-breasts man but Borat she could (think the Hebrew was translated into Turkish - was the Armenian?)

What would have been subtitled in the original print was also subtitled in the Turkish print. The gobledygook wasn't, obviously.

Last night I watched "Pirates of the Carribean, Dead Man's Chest" before Nip/Tuck. Ewwww!! I was too sleepy to watch my second DVD, "Miami Vice" so I might see that tonight. I am glad one of them is a freebie.

BTW, I saw "Prime" on HBO the this weekend. Uma played a pretty cool New Yorker with all the right gay and straight friends/connections who fell for a young Jewish, starving artist dude. I'm sure you know how Jewish boy meets non-Jewish clock-a-ticking fashion exec older woman. Not so badly though...

I wanna see "Volver" at the cinema this weekend.

Downloaded Borat and must say, its the first film I have watched where I had to stop and change because I literally pissed myself laughing.

First 15 mins are the funniest...Saw Children of Men at the weekend. Not sure about that one. Not bothered about seeing it again.

Borat.

Yes I did laugh out loud a few times possibily through shock. I agree with whoever it was that mentioned this before that a lot of it was staged, which ruined it slightly for me. Also shocked by the gloryfying of racism and sexism, and felt it went a bit too far to highlight these.
If certain parts were real - it didn't put Amercians in a very good light at all.

Which brings me onto the next film I saw....

Children of Men.

I thought this was spectacular edge of seat viewing. Again, some shocking scenes of violence - but really well shot and got my heart racing throughout. Clive Owen is excellent as usual and there were a few familiar faces including Michael Caine, the pot-smoking hippy.
I won't spoil the storyline, but this film could depict reality for the UK in 20 years. I think maybe that's why it was made.

I agree with Gilly, saw it today and it had a few incredibly funny scenes but I don't think it was anything special.

Finally saw Borat , yawn , quite boring .The trailer was better. Someone here wrote there were similarities to Mahir of I kiss you fame , I thought so. Have more laughs watching the Office or Faulty Towers for the umpteenth time !

Sacha Baron Cohen shouldn't do movies.
well, depending on what expectations are, he obviously made alot of money with this movie and Ali G but both movies were quite bad.

Thats because they shouldn't make comedy sketches into movies

This film or any other of this genre does not justify a cinema screen. You may as well wait for the DVD and watch it 30 mins at a time - just like the TV series.

Too much of the same thing for too long. Boring, predictable bla bla

And his fat side kick was atrocious, he was over keen, he over acted (which wasn't the point - underacting would have been much better) and to see his flab was grotesque I wanted to puke all over the person in front of me.

Post The Departed
The Departed by director Martin Scorsese and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg. It is supposedly a remake of a Chinese film Infernal Affairs. However, I had to keep my eyes closed all the time, a bit violent for my taste. Plot was quite good...any thoughts?

Saw the Film Infernal Affairs ( both 1 and 2) and I love them. It's actually a big hit in Hong Kong a couple of years back. I haven't seen The Departed but if it was based from the former, I hope it didn't disappoint.
