Maymunn, for someone who likes the type of woman you listed earlier (latino/dusky/asian/european/american/indian)....it seems odd you didn't mention Salma Hayek in Dogma. She is many of those things rolled up into one savory package! Also, I believe 'Chasing Amy' is Kevin Smith's best film - did you catch it?

Never seen Chasing Amy. it looked like one of those formulaic films. Who was in it?? Ben Affleck??
As for Salma Hayek, cant believe I forgot.Dickhead!!
Dont know why, but remembering her made me think of the Shit Monster from Hell in Dogma

Kevin Smith flicks:
Clerks: Kicks ass.
Mallrats: Only for Smith fans (I am one, I like it)
Chasing Amy: Easily Smith's best film; maymunn, I have it, more than welcome to borrow it for it's anything but formulaic.
Dogma: Funny.
Jay And Bob Blah Blah: Funny, and the more familiar one is with the Askew universe, the funnier it gets.
Jersey Girl: Errr, look, a bird...
Next Up:
Clerks 2: Passion of the Clerks
Ranger Danger and the Danger Rangers
Fletch
The last two are tentative in the schedule though.

'Chasing Amy' is a wacky love triangle of fluid sexuality with Ben Affleck, Jason Lee and a fine performance by an actress named Joey Lauren Adams. If I'm not mistaken, she earned a Golden Globe nomination for that film. Even Ben Affleck is likeable in this movie which a directorial feat in itself!

Joey Lauren Adams WON the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical for her turn in "Amy". I actually really like Affleck (he was, after all, da bomb in "Phantoms", yo) and together with Jason Lee (whose "My Name is Earl" is great, by the way), the three make a wonderful triangle. And the "Holy Trilogy" speech? Sheer comedy gold. "What's a Nubian?"

Maymunn - I'll be there on Saturday night with my copy of "Amy" in tow, mate.

I completed 'Memoirs of a Geshia' this week. I decided to read it again as it had been 5 years since I had completed it the first time and I wanted to compare it to the film that I saw last week. My conclusion? there is NO comparison! I had forgotten most of the detail when I watched the film so when I came out of the cinema I thought that they had done a good job with the movie, sadly I was wrong! But then, this is always the case.

Not really. In fact, it is one of the oldest urban legends around. There are absolutely scores of films which are far better than the books they are adaptations of. Case in point? The Godfather. You can't tell me that the film is worse off by the omission of the book's downright bizarre sub-plot of Lucy Mancini's oversized vagina. I can write a thesis on this subject , it is so dear to my heart. It might be the case that there are film adaptations of books that are "teh suck" as those crazy coders say, but a generalisation is not at all warranted.
