Post movies you watched recently.
well, I saw some movies while I'm in Holland because i'm fcuking bored.
yeah, i go out with friends and i go out with my family etc.
but i'm still bored, because the only thing i do is get drunk and eat. :P

anyways
lord of war
imdb

Genius!
one of the best movies I saw in a while.
Even tho i don't like nicolas cage, he's great in this movie and so are the other actors.
must see!
8/10

a history of violence
imdb

so-so, builds up slow to uhm a little blood and gore, but that's it.
when it ended i left wondering where the violence was.
6/10
pretty good directed and acted.

Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo
imdb

avoid, crap, boring, not funny, boring, crap, avoid!
1/10 (for the effort)

the god who wasn't there.
imdb

interesting docu. about a guy who claims that jesus never existed and that christianity and the christians of the US are not as sweet as alot of people think.
even tho he made this movie more for himself, it's still very interesting and nicely done.
even if you don't agree with what is shown, it's still good to watch and interesting.

7/10

wedding crashers
imdb
good funny movie, fun to watch.
2 friends go to weddings to meet women and get them in the bed.
ot the last wedding of the "season" one of them falls in love with a girl and that's when the story takes a twist.

moral of the story: lying pays off.
7/10

Recently I was lucky enough to catch this movie on DigiTurk before the DVD release (it is now available.) I loved it even though I am not yet fluent in Turkish - dialogue is mainly in Turkish, German and some English. It really gives a great panorama of the various musical styles here and some of their best talent.

While stateside, I caught the matinee showing of Capote. The picture is really well directed and well cast, as well as a great storyline and good imagery. Really splendid, definitely worth a look-see. Used copies of 'In Cold Blood' will be really hard to find, I am sure.

Then on the return flight (Teh Heh Yeh, of course) we were initially subjected to some forgettable family movie, when Lo and Behold the machine broke (imagine that) and they cued up another flick. Despite multiple VCR outages and the fuzzy monitors and the guy snoring behind me, I got to see Goal (or Göl in Turkçe.) Well, I am a footie fan so I tuned in. Definitely not too deep or innovatively produced, but also not too bad. Decent entertainment and had it's fun moments. Maybe a 5 or 6 outta 10.

The one saving grace for the TV's in our house right now is the fact that i found a couple of places that rent original (Hahaha) DVD's. i will admit to liking any movie that really makes me think or one that can manage to suprise me in some way. That being said...

\:D/
Day After Tomorrow (2004) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0319262/ [9-10] Simply an awesome flick. You must see it.
The Usual Suspects (1995) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114814/ [9-10] Perfect, flawless, incredible.

:D
28 days later (2003) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289043/ [8.5-10] i love this flick, seen it 5-6 times.
Frailty (2001) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0264616/ [8-10] Nice suprise ending, great theme, seen it many times.
Dawn of the Dead (2004) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363547/ [8-10] Best gross, but good, horror flick i have seen in a while.
Code 46 (2003) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0345061/ [8-10] Futuristic but not too futuristic..definately a thinkers flick.

:)
İdentity (2003) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0309698/ [7.5-10] Suspenseful, good plot twist, well worth the rental
The İsland (2005) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399201/ [7.5-10] Starts of weird and ends with a bang!
Shattered (1991) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102900/ [7.5-10] Great plot twist, a real head scratcher.
Eyes Wide Shut (1999) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120663/ [7.5-10] Really really really weird...i liked it. Stanley Kubrik is a genius.
Vanilla Sky (2001) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0259711/ [7.5-10] Hard to follow...but worth the watch.
Dead Calm (1989) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097162/ [7.5-10] Actually very good. Nicole Kidman saved her reputation here.
Lord of War (2005) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399295/ [7-10] Nick Cage gets my ticket price in any movie, great actor imo.
Cold Mountain (2003) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0159365/ [7-10] Not nearly as good as it was hyped, but very accurate.
The Village (2004) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368447/ [7-10] Unusual and full of stars, M.N.Shaymalan makes good but strange flicks.

:?
Stratosphere girl (2004) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0306097/ [6.5-10] Weird and different, good fick for art lovers.
Batman Begins (2005) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372784/ [6-10] Not horrible, but not good either.

Night Master (1987) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0173443/ [1-10] The first and worst movie that Nicole Kidman ever made.

"The Constant Gardener" with a realiable British cast, stellar performance by Mr. Fiennes. Not much of a stretch for Rachel Weiz I imagine but what it's about is highly plausible (hasn't TB been successfully eradicated in Africa by vaccine?) and certainly tragic but clearly, the human spirit triumphs.

I'd like to see Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain and Munich.

I saw 'Brokeback Mountain' the night it opened in the States. It moves along quite lazily but is very powerful. The score is excellent and the scenery lush. I found the movie believable & very tragic. One drawback was I found myself wishing there were English subtitles at many points because I could not understand Heath Ledger's character's mumbling. Even the last line of the movie is slurred & we were all like, 'What did he just say?' Overall it was excellent, however. I also saw 'Walk the Line.' I might be a little partial because I love the music & persona of both Johnny & June Carter Cash but I thought this movie was tons of fun. The singing is fantastic & the acting is top-notch, but the plot is kind of thin. 'Brokeback Mountain' has a headful of steam & my vote for a Best Picture Oscar.

'syriana' with george clooney.

as for the last 3 starwars episodes, can we please have that post deleted? those films deserve no mention with some of the finer ones listed above. absolute tripe! :P
