Post Oscar nominations...
are here...

My comments:
*I have still not seen a lot of the films but am looking forward to seeing the recent offerings from 2 of my favourite directors: the Cohen brothers' No country for old men and Paul Thomas Anderson's There will be blood.
*Atonement and Clayton were ok but nothing special although moments of the cinematography in Atonement was excellent (but likely to be beaten by the two previously-mentioned films) and I liked Clooney and Swinton's turn in Clayton.
*Nice to see Sicko and Persepolis get a nod even though they are far from the US mainstream.

What do you think?

Ratatouille for everything it's up for: I laughed, I cried, I felt warm toward France...

No Country For Old Men, is what oscar selection committee worships, it's what they eat up whenever it's kind shows it's ugly hag of a head. I loved the cinematography, I loved the first two halves but the way they ended it was too Cohen or Japanese anime for me.

2007 was a little weak (Atonement, Michael Clayton, come on!).

Paul Thomas Anderson with his frog monsoon is not my cup of tea either. I will definitely check his last attempt anyways though.
