Post PANS LABYRINTH.
Best movie I have seen within the last 12 months. What is up with 2006 its been insane. Departed, Blood Diamond, United 93, and many others that aren't coming to me right now. Its a great time to be a movie lover.

It is a must see flick.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0457430/

Profilo AFM is the best place to view it when it comes out in MAY in Turkey.

Its one of the top three human nature movies of all time for me.

I can't recommended it enough.

If it doesn't get an best foreign film Oscar I will forever boycott Oscars (I am sure it will be a big loss for them).

United 93 was brilliant. The Departed was fcuking awful. I haven't seen Blood Diamond, and even if it is great, it's still only one film.

What was better in 2004 or 2005? Off the top of my head:

2005:

Munich
Brokeback Mountain
Good Night, and Good Luck
Capote
Walk the Line
The Constant Gardener
A History of Violence
Hustle & Flow
North Country
The Descent
The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada
The 40-Year-Old Virgin (Transcends its raison d'etre)
Batman Begins (As does this)
Syriana
Transamerica
The New World
Junebug
Me and You and Everyone We Know
The Squid and the Whale
Howl's Moving Castle
March of the Penguins
Millions
Murderball
Paradise Now
Tsotsi
Caché
Match Point
Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room

2004:

Sideways
The Aviator
Hotel Rwanda
Baadasssss!
Million Dollar Baby
Ray
Finding Neverland
Kinsey
Kill Bill Volume 2
Undertow
Vera Drake
Before Sunset
The Incredibles
House of Flying Daggers
Born Into Brothels
Super Size Me
The Sea Inside
The Motorcycle Diaries
Spider-Man 2
Primer

I can come up with twice as many films if I think about it.

Disagree wrt. Casino Royale (with Cheese) Ali. You obviously wouldn't know a good film if one walked up and played itself on your cinema!

Daniel Craig as James Bond can best be described in an anagram of Casino Royale: I, cosy anal roe.

Ya know that feeling you get when you wake up from a disturbing dream/nightmare? And in your mind you go over the dream, trying to make sense of it. Did it have some meaning? Or was it just neurons firing randomly in the brain? Well, that's how I feel tonight after seeing Pan's Labyrinth. I know that I am in the tiniest minority...but I'm not impressed with this film (except for the imagery and the acting).

Those are two pretty important aspects of a film. It's like saying "I was not impressed by my lunch; except for the taste and the presentation."

Yes, those are important aspects of a film, but not all...those are technical aspects.

The film didn't affect me, emotionally. I should have felt some sort of connection and empathy for Ophelia, but I only did vaguely. Not because the actress who played her didn't act well, but simply because of the way her character was written...sort of flat and matter of fact. The only characters that had any depth-that were more than one dimensional-were the rebels.
