I give you Megatron. He kind of resembles Doomsday from DC's The Death of Superman storyline.

OK, maybe I'm too old - but is this movie gonna be any good?

BTW - did you see the storyline for the next FF?

The movie will most probably suck ass. It's being directed by Michael Bay, whose approach to film is analogous to the mating rituals of a sadomasochistic silverback on heat, wearing a strap on.

I have seen the FF sequel synopsis:

Quote:
In the sequel, the enigmatic, intergalactic herald, The Silver Surfer, comes to Earth to prepare it for destruction. As the Silver Surfer races around the globe wreaking havoc, Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben must unravel the mystery of The Silver Surfer and confront the surprising return of their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom, before all hope is lost.

This is interesting because it seems like The Silver Surfer is still the herald of Galactus, even though we won't see the latter in this sequel. So it's not a direct adaptation of the holy trinity of Marvel Comics that is Fantastic Four 48, 49 and 50. Instead, it seems to include story elements from Fantastic Four 57, 58, 59 and 60, in which Dr. Doom stole the power cosmic from The Surfer. I really like the sound of that.

I'd also like to give Jessica Alba a tit-rub. But that's a whole other thing.

I heard rumors they were considering casting Galactus - which would be the worst possible move. If they are going to show him at all, he should be CGI with a voiceover.

I'm also worried about their ability to do justice to the Surfer. I mean, this guy is so otherworldly, and his power is so extreme, I don't know if they can pull it off. Also, can the actor they've chosen pull off the "tortured soul nobility" that makes the Surfer so great?

I think they are going to make the Surfer all CG. And you are right on the money regarding his tormented soul; it would be difficult to convey that with an actor in all that make up, and it would be doubly hard to do that with CGI.

Still, the idea of seeing Norrin Radd in all of his argent glory sends shivers down my spine.

There is a lot that they can bring to the screen from the FF mythos, which is much more movie-friendly than a lot of other well established Marvel characters. I really hope the sequel sets the saw for a steady franchise.

I thought FF 1 was...OK. Not great. I really thought they missed the boat on casting Reed Richards. He didn't have any charisma, none of the personal aura of quiet strength and intelligence that is Reed Richards. They did OK with the Human Torch and Invisible Girl, and Michael Chiklis as the Thing was inspired.

But they missed the boat on RR, and I think he is about to be pushed to the side a la Cyclops in the XMen - the difference is, there are only FOUR in the Fantastic Four - I don't know how well that will work out.

Fox wanted to turn FF into a franchise so they had to cast the main leads as much younger than their counterparts from the comics. It was a fcuking shit idea (WB had the same idea for the latest Superman flick, which also backfired painfully).

Even though I love Jessica Alba and want her to have my babies and have her name inscribed on the margins of all my books, she was not convincing as Sue Storm. She was way too young, as was Gruffudd, as you said. I do agree that the Human Torch and the Thing were both brilliant.

I don't know - I just want this sequel to succeed, and am hoping for a marked improvement on the first one.

I didn't mind Alba so much, but she could have used another 5 years on her. I thought they reinvented the Doom origin fairly well also.

I really like Marvel, but I think some of their projects are sketchy at best:

Iron Fist? - Sorry - too small an audience. I've heard it's been pulled.
Captain America? - I love Cap, but I don't see this pulling in big global numbers.
Man-Thing? - Who cares??

I think Wolverine and Ghost Rider will be great, and Iron Man might be OK - but I hope they aren't spreading themselves too thin.

I think Thor would make a great film. They are also re-inventing the Hulk for a 2008 release, which will be more like the comics, apparently. He will fight The Abomination, which is very cool.

This just in Comic-geeks: Nicholas Cage is playing Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider.

Alright, let's see if you knew this one: They are thinking about doing a sequel to the V mini-series...this one being "V:The Second Generation", and is apparently set 20 years after the old series. I freakin' loved that series when I was a kid. I have one episode here with me on VHS if anyone ever wants to borrow it...

You can get the complete old series in B'tas pazar now on DVD, for those wishing to reminisce over the reptilian aliens.
