I believe the channel apologised for their inaccuracies (caused by using physicians paid by insurers).

Wrong. They apologised for a number of points which they got wrong on technicalities; they never apologised for the gist of their argument.

You are referring to CNN's Dr Sanjay Gupta's analysis of Sicko, which prompted Michael Moore to retort, in his inimitable style, with a point-by-point analysis of CNN's observations. You can read CNN's response here. Further, a quick search on the internet reveals further mistakes, fallacies or oversights by Moore.

CH - My original point is that Michael Moore's documentaries are one-sided propaganda pieces filled to the brim with mistakes: the particular point in this case is Moore's glorification of the NHS. Attacking the US health system is like shooting tuna fish in a barrel. Moore's having to resort to such cheap tricks like fact doctoring, whimsical omissions or apples-and-oranges comparisons merely demonstrate his lack of mastery in this particular subject.

I was not aware the "shooting fish in a barrel" saying could be modified by specifying the kind of fish. Am I to assume that tuna fish are uniquely vulnerable when trapped in a barrel, or are they on the less vulnerable end of the spectrum? How about carp? Are carp in a barrel easier to shoot than tuna, or harder? How about turbot?

And when you are gunning down tuna in a barrel, you gotta watch out for those damn dolphins. Those fuckers are always getting caught in the crossfire.

Contrary to that if you are using a high velocity modern weapon and assuming that the fish are in water, then they're perfectly safe, as the bullets shatter on impact with the water.

I thought it was entertaining... and agree that his films are one-sided. According to him the HC system in the states is terrible and everywhere else it is perfect. That said, I do think HC in the states has big issues.... and sadly our family has had first hand experience. My step dad was a firefighter and suffered from severe lung damage about 20 years ago (recurring severe pnemonia). A court ruled that any recurring illness relating to the injury had to be covered by his insurance... for life. He was taken to court by the insurance company over the $60K hospital bill saying that this most recent lung illness was not caused by his firefighter injury. The insurance company put together a whole panel of doctors to testify on their behalf... and won! Now it is in appeal.

None required. I never defended the US health care system: I merely chastised the way Michael Moore resorts to polemical flourishes that eventually strip his films of any worth whatsoever.
