Friendly match. I think Liverpool have other priorities right now.
Don't look too much into it.
Glad you're happy though.

Liverpool were not trying as they already got through, they didnt even have some of the first team players on the field, so guess it reallly was more of a nostalgic visit for them, anyway ptiy GS hadnt tried so hard in the earlier matches maybe they would have got somewhere, i'm not a liverpool or GS supporter by the way.

Yes, well done to Galatasaray, they finished bottom of their group with 4 out of a possible 18 points and, in their own "olympic" stadium, beat a team fielding 4 reserve team players, a 4th choice striker and a 2nd choice goal keeper. Awesome.

Why U Brits r being sarcastis??? It was an official game at the end, so players were reserve or not doesnt matter. I look at the result , only result of the game. And, I dont remember mentioning group. Just individual game, ok Ian?

I wasn't being sarcastic. I just pointed out that Liverpool put out a weakened team because they didn't care if they won or lost that match - they had already won the group. They had to save their best players for more important games.
But glad you enjoyed it, it seemed to be agood game with 5 goals. And I guess Galatasaray were playing for some pride, so I'm equally happy that you're proud of them.

Yep, they were playing for pride. With all the crap being thrown at them at the moment a loss last night against a weakened liverpool would have been disasterous.

Not about the match last night but an interesting piece about the derby a few days ago in the Times. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0, ... 37,00.html

i particularly liked these sentences from the article: The football was low-grade, the entertainment Bafta-winning. The ugly game in all its gory glory. summed it all up for me. and then of course the rating Ugliness: 9
still i watched this match intently

They interviewed this guy on either Lig TV or Fenerbahçe TV on the night. He is off to see the Milan derby next, and then the Boca Juniors/River Plate one next year. He looked well excited to see some ruffians ruff it out. I am glad we obliged.
