 Istanbul Marathon, 28th October 2007
The "Arnavutköy Running Mafia" will have a considerably sized team for the 15 km run and may be one or two Runners for the 42.2 km.
If you like running or if you want to get the chance to cross the bridge from Asia to Europe by foot, put the date in your diary.
http://www.istanbulmarathon.org/english/main.asp
And else, come and support the runners.
Anybody interested in running? Would be nice to also make it a team event.

Before everybody gets too exited:
I found out that the 29 Oct is a bank holiday and this will be a long weekend! Please consider this when making commitments.

I think we will be a good 10- 15 runners, if not more. However, most are going for the 15 km, don't know if anybody will do the full 42 km.
Will arrange for meeting up prior to boarding the coaches closer to the date. Also will try to activate a few supporters. That failed miserably last year, because most of the would-be supporters were still comatosed by the time we finished (the full Marathon).

I'll come along to support, will I be able to sit down? In an act of generosity I will also hand out cigarettes to those runners who have nowhere to keep them.

Guess it's too late to start training now. Do they have a waddling category for those of us who are out of shape?

Well, Bakhlava: it's never too late to start to practice. Do you run at all? Can you run 15 min? If you have the time to practice (3 times a week) and you can run 15min at a piece now, you can still make it. But don't delay to start practicing!
Uta, registration can be done by Fax (see the link posted before). But as we are in Turkey, you can also register on the day before at the organisation center. May be we make this a "Registration Party" and go all together.
David, yes please, could you bring some Fags along. I am sure we can find you some seating. Do you think you could be in Mecidiyeköy around 9:30 that day?

Of course, I'll bring British fags, not American ones. Not public schools ones though...eh JC!

I know I'm pretty out of shape. 15 minutes is about all I can manage anymore. Then I need a smoke.
What's the Fun Run part? Is that for those of us who are lazy and just want an excuse to run across the bridge?
