 Athens-Istanbul
I have visitors in a few weeks who will be making their way slowly overland from Rome to Istanbul on the tail end of their honeymoon. Can anyone recommend some nice itineraries - not necessarily most direct but reasonably straightforward - by bus, ferry, etc. from Greece-Istanbul? Many thanks!

Last summer I took the ferry from Athens to Chios. Got a sleeping room. Not a bad way to pass the night and not wildly expensive. Can be romantic -- strooling on the deck at night, and a LOT more comfortable than the bus. Chios is a nice little Greek isle for simple strolling (some neat old Ottoman architecture and good views if willing to explore) and has some nice bars near the pier. Then on to Cesme and Izmir. It's a start.
