Post Biking at Black Sea
I had nice weekend, friday I first took off from Istanbul to our summer house in Şile (about 80 km from ist towards east) and stayed there over night.

Saturday we took off towards Ağva (about 30 km from Şile) further to east. There is 2 roads, seaside road and forest road. Seaside have great views, but the condition is quite bad (they are building Black Sea higway to connect eastern Black sea region to ist). Anyway, we took that, arrived to Ağva and decided to go further. U can take a road from Ağva to Kandıra. Road surface was great, road very curvy and nice views all around, perfect for biking!

From Kandıra we took a small dirt road to seaside, and then by seaside we went wit that dirt road deeper towards east. Finally we stopped to nice summer village called Kerpe, mostly Izmit habitants and very lovely. I would compare to Ayvalik. There we took a break for an hour (F1 qualifications of course) and later hit the road back to Şile.

Return I could do faster as my darling got used to sit behind me and we returned back to Şile in 1 hour I guess.

Great road for bikers, I definetly recommend.

If u wanna just visit the beach and the small villages, U can take a road to Izmit (TEM) and then north from there towards Kandıra!

JV, every time I tell my wife I want to get a bike in Turkey, she freaks out and goes on about how bad the roads are (she is a native Turk). Got any advice on how I can convince her? I miss my MC :-(

Did the Turkish authorities accept your foreign MC licence, or did you have to go for additional testing?

Maybe I should tell me wife to bring my helmet and leathers from NYC...

What are you riding these days? My last bike was a Suzuki SV650s - it was so light and nimble, and I loved the twin engine on a sportsbike, big change from my previous bike (a Bandit)

I was stopped by police yesterday, they accepted my license (EU/FIN ABCE) without questions. The license procedure here in TR is mainly to collect money, so u wont have any problems. I never thought to get TR license though.

Honda XL 1000 Varadero! Great bike, the power of sports bike, and capability of touring enduro! 96 hp, and over 100 Nm torque!

See ya soon, on ur bike!
