 Brussels
I got to spend 2 days next month there (with Dervish unfortunately) and was wondering what (if anything) there is to do there?
I am only interested in bars and not any boring museums or supermarkets selling sprouts or places selling waffles.
Also what would be the best brew to drink other than Guinness.

Spend quite a bit of time in Brussels these days, loads of good places for eating and drinking. I'll email you when I get time.

I reckon there are much worse places to be stuck than Belgium as a beer lover (Istanbul comes to mind).
If you generally like Hefe Weizens, try a witbier. If you don't like witbiers, I'm sure you'll find something as Belgian beer is noted for its diversity.
I stumbled across this site that lists some of the best beer cafes in Brussels: http://www.beerhunter.com/documents/19133-000213.html

At the Grand Place you have a nice and inexpensive restaurant with old stylish Flemish food: 't Kelderke.
It is at the upper short side of the square, open the door and immediately you see the stairs down (kelderke means cellar). One of the last refuges in town centre for real food and ofcourse a big choice of beers. Try Duvel indeed or Hoegaarden (the one and only original white beer).
This is a place where locals come for lunch or cheap diner.
If you come out of the restaurant, at the right (long) side of the Grand Place, Take the second, very small street to the right. There you will find next to each other a cuban bar with live cuban bands and as well good beer and Mojito and all that stuff. next to it you find 'la cerceuil', which means the coffin.
It is in a burial theme bar with coffins as tables and black drapes as decoration.
Used to be a place for the rich and famous, now it is very quiet and one of the best places in the centre to drink Duvel without too many tourists around.
Alternatively, ask for the IBIS hotel (100m form the Grand Place on the place du Marche aux herbes), if you stand in front of the entrance of the hotel, you will see a bar (cafe) on the left (forgot the name).
This is an old stylish, typical Brussels cafe with a good choice of beers and a good, relaxing atmosphere.
Best bar in towncentre, ask for the Radisson hotel, this is in a small side street about 300m from the Grand Place, in the same street is a bar (cafe) which is called Mort Subite (sudden death). They specialize in old stylish beers, brewed by mico breweries. Try the Mort Subit and do NOT drink it too fast....

Well after feezing my nuts off during my stay I decided I have mixed opinions about the capital of the evil empire.
After a fair dinner in some italian joint looking out to Heysel stadium and quite a few glasses of a decent white wine we decided (me, dervish and 2 greek ladies) to grab a cab and head off for some greek bar where there is apparently bubbles-a-plenty. Well after a crazy cabbie called Omar gave us the grand tour of a dead city we ended up at the greek place only to find it closed.
We then order him to take us somewhere lively and where booze flowed.
Ended up in the city center next to some old church that needed a wash and had a few drinks in the Montechristo joint (on Rue Henri Maus) which was full of bimbos doing salsa dance. My eyes were starting to glaze over after 4 mojitos and a duvel on the side so we then parted and went to rue du Marché aux Poulets and hit the Celtica. The comatosed bodies by the bar didnt put us off and then headed upstairs where there was some techno-electronica shite but had a wee bob to be sociable.
Downstairs they were playing rock from 80's & 90's which was something I knew of at least. Here I had my first draught Guinness which was like nectar from the Gods along with a few JD chasers and a packet of peanuts. By now it was past 3pm and wanted to go to a place I heard of from a local called "the pussy lounge" but the other 3 werent up to it and mentioned something about having to get up in 4 hours.
So that was it! I learnt that smoking does kill you in Belgium as you cant smoke in hotels or restaurants so hypothermia comes into play. The Heysel ball thingy looks pretty for 5 mins at night and there is no such thing as traffic and also not much tottie about.
Next day it bloody snowed so thank f we left the following evening.

Agree with you there. One of my favourites, best Stoemp in Brussels and their own label beer comes in at about 12% ABV if I remember correctly.
