 Cyprus
I'm looking at heading to Cyprus for a weekend next month and wonder if anyone's been there and can recommend somewhere to stay. I am also wondering the best way to get from the airport - is it close to the town on Lefkosa/Nicosia? Can't seem to find much information - all the tourist websites have the same limited info.
I am also wondering if you can just cross the green line into the Greek side, or if there's some sort of formal procedure (I'm on Australian passport, not EU). Does it make any difference which side you stay on? There seems to be only 2 or 3 hotels in the Turkish side.
SimonB - I think you sent me some info a long time ago but I have deleted it. If you have any advice, please let me know.

Another thing - has anyone caught the Havas or any other sort of shuttle from the Euro side to Sabiha Gokcen? I don't quite understand the Havas website - looks like they only go from Taksim at 7.30 & 17.30, but from 4. Levent every hour. If I catch the 18.00 bus from 4. Levent, do you think it will be enough time to be on a 21.20 flight? Website says it takes about 1 hour, but on a Friday night, I guess it will take a lot longer.

From what i here it is possible to cross the line but only south to north for non EU nationals and they must enter the Republic of Cyprus through a port of airport in the Greek Cypriot section. EU nationals can travel between both sides without a problem as for them the whole island is considered one and part of the EU.

Depending where you are starting out it might be quicker to get ferry to Kadıköy and then take a normal bus from there to airport.

* Taksim - İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen shuttle buses will be operated between 07:30-17:30 beginning from 14th of August
(that's from the Havas site - probably means buses will run every hour but you should call to make sure)
I think if you left at 18:00 you wouldn't have a problem - even if it took 2.5 hours you'd still have a 50 minutes to spare, and the airport is so small there's no chance of getting lost running around trying to locate gates or anything
