Just got this e-mail from easy jet:
easyJet flights sales between Luton and Istanbul have been temporarily suspended whilst we await Turkish Civil Aviation authorities to formally grant us traffic rights to operate. We expect to start operating these flights from 29 June as forecasted.
Lets see...

I never posted before as I am traveling around like crazy for work besides being a doctorate student. (but really enjoy reading others posts ) I recently prepared a presentation on airport slots, so couldnt stop myself from writing.
Under the coordination of IATA (Intl Air Travel Assoc) and national civil aviation authorities the busiest airports (among them Istanbul, Antalya, Ankara and Izmir airports in Turkey) use slot management due to overcrowding. They plan the runway capacity and other airport services for a whole season to minimize airport congestion and delays and reserve specific time slots for the air carriers to use the airports. So I think Easy Jet is waiting for confirmation of its slots.

shawnee: Istanbul's Ataturk airport is very busy but Sabiha Gokcen is not but it could well be that easy jet are waiting for slots to be allocated. Although if that is the case I'm not sure why easy jet didn't say so.
By the way, you should head off to the Intro section and tell us all who you are.

if so, a company like eay jet wouldn't have announced this news months before hand.
slots are pretty easy to get, if you pay.
