 Exotic Büyükada beaches
Yesterday I went with a friend of mine to Büyükada, actually lovely village but then decided to go and check out a beach (can't even remember the name) via a boat that brought you to the other side of the island.
Complete wrip-off (12 YTL to enter a dirty 'plaj' where I have never seen so many 'Caddebostan plajı' people in their underwear, you know what I mean); a definite to avoid activity!!!
Any other suggestions on beaches in or around Istanbul?????

The only place that's a little more exlusive is Solar in Kilyos (25 YTL weekend entry). Kilyos itself is a dump (and the public beach well avoided) but Solar has plenty of security to keep the masses out. There is Burc beach too but you have to be/be with a university cardholder to get in as I understand it. Agva is okay outside the main summer season but right now it's a shithole due to all the litter that the summer hordes leave behind.

There's a beach on Büyükada nearer the main port that is quite nice. I don't remember the name, but you can't enter without female accompaniment, if that makes a difference.

I have been to Burc beach a few times and indeed it beats the Büyükada beach I described. As you said you need to be accompanied by a student or ex-student but actually if you don't look too suspicious and with a big smile they let you in (now starting to work on that unsuspicious look )
