 Greece advice please
My wonderful parents just told me yesterday that they are planning to come to visit me for my 30th in September. My original plan was to do a bit of travel around Greece before I come home next year. However, they want to go there too, and thought we could go together in September. They also want to see the Aegean coast of Turkey, so maybe we should just do some island hopping ourselves from there. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to go and how to go, bearing in mind that my parents are well into their 60s and can't walk around all day every day? Having some friends in the travel biz over there, I can probably scum some discount tours, but I am concerned that they will be too party-focussed or too active for my parents.

If you plan on visiting these islands Skiathos, Karpathos, Samos, Kos, Santorini and Crete I have been to those for 1 or 2 weeks stays and can be helpful if you have any questions re those.
September sounds like a good month to go, not too bussy and still warm.

Hi Monsta,
I lived in Athens for 2 years before coming to Istanbul. Have been to most of the islands and also driven to many places on the mainland. My in-laws came to visit us (both fairly elderly), so I can help with some ideas that aren't too hectic for them. PM me for details.

Awesome! I can give you some tips on Rhodes and Santorini and a bit about Skianthos too. The best way is to cruise around I suppose.

Thanks for the replies. I think i'll start by chatting to you all when I'm there. It was kind of stupid for me to post about this at the moment as my head's not there yet. I only just started packing my bag today and I'll have a good few months of settling in Ist before I need to think about greece.

Ios. Thanks Starman. I'll look into it. I am still into Turkey. Maybe I will have a Greek phase next.
Actually someone I met here at a conference invited me to Cyprus this summer. I don't think I will go. I should just go to Spain then come back and explore Turkey more. I haven't been to Cappadocia and Ephesus.
Sorry for hugginng your thread Monsta/

Since my parents are on my back to organise the Greece trip now, I'm wondering if anyone has a Lonely Planet Greece book, or similar guide. If so, please let me know as I'd love to borrow it.

I have finally almost sorted out the trip to Greece. I was going to book the ferry connections online, but it cost quite a bit to get the tickets sent over here. We will be travelling between September 4 & 11 - will we be able to buy our ferry tickets when we are there? We will be flying into Mykonos first, so would we be able to go to the port that day and buy tickets to get to Santorini 2 days later, and do the same when we get to Santorini (to go to Samos via Naxos)?
