Post Green Card car insurance -
I'm going to drive through Bulgaria and Romania. Does anyone know where I can buy the 'Green Card' car insurance in Istanbul for these countries?

You can buy it from "Turing" which is in the Sanay mahallesi just after 4. levent.
As your driving from 4.levent and pass the bus terminus, the road dips down under a bridge on the way to maslak. Dont go down there but go right just before it and take a left (2nd) to go over the bridge, then turn right and follow the road all the way till it forces you to bend round to the left and then after 50 yards on your left you will see the concrete entrance with "Turing" written above it.
Go through the entrance and the second building has a car park in front of it. Park there and then go into the big building and the desk for green cards is on the right hand side.
Hope this helps.

Added bonus: the insurance stickers you get at the Bulgarian and Romanian borders colourfully decorate your windshield! I paid for each separately and I believe it was a total of 7 euros, plus some disinfecting costs for the car (1-2 euros). Add to that the fact that gas costs less in those two countries and that you can buy PORK, I'd highly recommend either country for a long-weekend trip!

That's amazing about being able to buy such cheap insurance at the borders, especially when compared to buyng insurance for other countries here in Turkey. Does anyone know if that insurance is really 'legit'?? Does it cover everythingone would need )3rd party, your own car, etc etc?)

its just the very basic insurance to let you drive on the road legally.
Serbia is 30 euros (1 month) at the Border and Macedonia is 15 euros (2 weeks).

Great, thx for the info. it is pretty cheap compared toTurkish prices...I think some friends paid more than 150 YTL for one or two weeks just to cross the border into Greece. The insurance here is a rip-off; when I lived in Prague the insurance automatically covered you for every single country in Europe, including Turkey and even some countries like Syria and Israel, I think.
