Post Ist Airport to Sultanahmet
Can someone please tell me how far it is from the airport to sultanahmet and the best mode of transport to use if Ive got quite a large suitcase? How much would it cost by cab? I don't want to get ripped off. Cheers. :)

Get a cab! Max YTL20. Cabbies aren't that bad here. Just get in, make sure it starts at YTL1.90 and flashes GUNDUZ and enjoy the scenery.

cab was 19 ytl last summer... if u ve booked a room in a hotel in sultanahmet, then they can book a place in a shuttle for u as well (there r some private shuttle servises working with hostels and hotels in sultanahmet), which was 3 euros... and running every 3 hours as far as i can remember...
and.. if u take metro u need to get out at yusufpasa and find way to tram stop, appr. 100 metres.. then take tram to sultanahmet....
but for a newcomer with a large suitcase the latter option might be a bit stressful.. moreover u can be literally ripped off :)
I am always on my gard with taxi drivers...never trust them
One trick I have seen was that the driver changed shortly before finishing the trip to the starting price in old Turkish Lira, so there was something like 225 with a lot of 0000 behind. He explained me that I have to pay 22,50 YTL ... for a distance I would never pay more than 10.
