Just an end note to say how great Kas is. We only had a long weekend but it would be the perfect way to spend a weeks' holiday (especially given what is said above about Saklikent, Olympos etc).
We initially stayed in the beautiful Villa Hotel Tamara which offers wonderful views of the sea (and swimming possibilities). Although the pool is small, and croweded with sunburnt Yabancis, there is a nice pool side bar and you can get away from the madding crowds with a short walk through the gardens to sunbeds next to the sea.
On the downside, it is a bit far from the action and we had problems with hot water (which did not work in our room- making us have to move out). The atmosphere was wonderful though and an enormous lemon purloined from the gardens was a memorable souveneir.
We then moved to Hotel Phellos which had less nice rooms but made up for it by excellent service and a wonderful, enormous swimming pool nestled between the steep hills and a long lacivert view of the sea. Beware of overweight Germans over the breakfast table though.
Other than that, I can heartily recommend a days boat trip to Kekova. Ours cost 30 YTL per person and included 3 swimming stops, a wonderful home cooked kofte lunch in our captain's a house with beautiful gardens, and a great stopover in Kekova town with its old castle and stunning views of the azure coastline. If you go be sure to take some portokal juice from the I am here cafe (a tribute to existentialism). The sunken city was a bit of a disappointment from the boat (but may be better from a sea kayak).
In Kas itself, Leah's restaurant (Midpoint) looks to be a great breakfast/lunch/evening beer stop and the are some lovely restaurant's ovelooking the harbour. Best of all was a restaurant called Bahce in a beautiful lit up courtyard with very tasty, well presented and reasonably priced food. Mavi is a great end of night stop and a very intense looking DJ was playing some storming tunes provoking raki-infused revelry.
