Post Possible Problem for BA Flights to UK
Apparently BA are cancelling some flights from Heathrow on Thursday because of fog. Anyone flying with them on Thursday or Friday should check with their travel agent or BA.

I'm OK, I'm flying TRY, who have camels to guide them through the fog.

They've been saying on the news here that all domestic flights (BA) cancelled today and a lot of european flights aswell, also that this will go on for another day.

This will of course apply to any other airline flying into here

Just checked on todays departure and it left 10 mins behind schedule which is OK, certainly better than the 4 hours yesterdays morning flight was delayed!

It seems that BA has cancelled all domestic and shorthaul european departures from Heathrow but that flights to/from Turkey are okay. Apparently Heathrow is down to 50% runway capacity due to the fog.

Am I being a bit dim? What's the difference whether a flight is short or medium haul? They still have to land in fog don't they?

Are flights from Turkey ok because everyone here drives with their fog lights on all the time anyway, be it foggy, rainy or sunny?

News comments this morning on BBC news suggests that this is more an issue with LHR's infrastructure as opposed to the planes... Other airports affected are Cardiff and Norwich.

Weather forecast is for the fog to last at least another couple of days.

David, I guess the point is that with only 50% capacity they're giving priority to those travelling further.
