Post öğretmen evi
Hi all,
not sure where to post, but has anyone stayed at an öğretmen evi . I just got my card and since we have nothing like it in the states, I 'm not sure what to expect.
Thanks

i stayed in a few..my parents both are teachers..so we use to go to them when they were in istanbul...there is one in cankurtaran which is basically down from topkapi palace towards sahil yolu..it is pretty basic and clean...almost like the pansiyon you get in places like bodrum...there is also another one in tunel..on the same street where the old american embassy was...suppose to be fancier but never manage to stay there..it is always fully booked for the big guns of turkish educations, whoever they are...i wasn't bothered anyway.. i like the one in cankurtaran

I think the quality of öğretmen evleri and the like can vary quite a bit. I've toured the öğretmen evi on Burgaz Adasi and can tell you that it is lovely. However, I also stayed at the guest house for railroad workers in Ankara right next to the train station and it was disgusting.

When I moved here I stayed in the ogretmen evi for a few weeks while I was house hunting. It was ridiculously cheap 16tl a night and very comfortable, fantastic views to wake up to every morning. The food was a bit 'school dinners' if you know what I mean.

The price goes up in summer and the place is usually full with teachers during the holiday season though.

http://www.datcaogretmenevi.com/ The Spanish guitarists in the reception became a bit annoying after the first week.

Thanks. Sounds like they vary quite a bit, the one in Datca looked great. Didn't even know of this place.
Anyone know if there is a limit as to how many guests I can take in and how much extra (if at all) they would be charged?

Anymore recommendations for ögretmen evilar outside Istanbul? How about the prices? I want to tour Turkey during the summer holidays and was also wondering if they are worth it.
