Visit some friends in Izmir and get a dirt cheap BA flight to Gatwick 30 quid each way plus tax and Bob's your interfering uncle. Note, free and limitless booze. In your case Charley that's at least 40 quid off

I have a friend coming over on Easyjet on Monday...i'll find out from him what it was like and let you know.....
did see on the bbc news that easyjet now charge 10GBP for every extra bag you put into the hold...... the news seem to suggest that this fee is payable even if your total weight is less than 20kg....
also..(off topic ).did you see the news about ryanair allowing mobile phone calls from their planes as of next year.... you pay a roaming fee to a network called Onair...and Ryanair get a cut...... so thats ok then...we can use the phones and let them interfere with flight control systems.... obviously not such a big issue now that somebody has figured out how to make money from it !!

The same article / news item also stated that the signal was patchy at best.

 Shuttle to Sabiha
If you want to get to Sabiha the best way is, by what I found out, the Havaş Shuttle Service from Taksim to Sabiha. In comparison to IETT their webpage is pretty good. All information is available in English. I will try this service on thursday, but I will let you know afterwards. If you need to get to the airport on thursday be carefull there is no bus at 10.30. Normally they run every hour. Supposed Transport time is 1 hour. So its doesn't take longer than going to Atatürk by tramvay. Link to havas is http://www.havas.com.tr/en/otobus_istanbul_saw.asp

 Transfer to Sabiha Airport
Ok Here are my experiences from last week:
Havas Transport to and from Sabiha Gökcen Airport is very good. They leave exactly in time. Fare is 9.50 YTL. Even on Bayram the transport was running without any problems. If the service stays like that Sabiha is as good to reach as Atatürk airport is.

I used that airport twice. First time was 3 years ago when I came as a tourist and flew with Corendon coming from Amsterdam. Corendon offered their own shuttle service to Taksim and Sultanahmet which seemed a convenient solution at a reasonable price (10YTL/€...).
However it was a complete disaster. But I won't go into details here. I can only say I'll never fly with Corendon anymore.
Second time was last summer when I came back from Basel with easyjet. Flight went fine. We touched ground at 2 o'clock and exactly one hour later I was at Taksim. Went with an IETT bus that costed 4,50YTL. The airport is so small, you are out there in no time and there were plenty of busses. Both, IETT and Havas.
All in all I'd say it is not that bad.
