I believe Sabiha Gökçen runs a shuttle service to Kadiköy and to Taksim. There are also dolmuses from Pendik to Bostanci/Kadiköy. Also check http://www.iett.gov.tr for bus routes.

Where is the friend coming from? I've been wondering who uses that airport. I've heard rumors of planes landing in that general vicinity, but have never known anyone who actually used that airport.

European discount carriers are negotating for gate space there. Turkish Airlines is also going to start exclusively using it for domestic flights in/out of Istanbul, and is offering special fares.

Like I said before, the only thing I have seen fly out of that airport was a seagull.

They've only recently begun seriously marketing the place. Not that I'm endorsing anywhere in ghetto fabulous Kurtköy, but it does have potential for the Gebze factory business circuit.

I've been wondering who uses that airport. she is coming from The Netherlands with corendon. a travel company that in The Netherlands specialises in Turkey travel by offering low cost flights and accommodation and in Turkey offers low cost flights as well. they have daily flights to and from the Netherlands. Places they fly to and from are Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Maastricht, Brussels (BE), Bodrum, Antalya. if you fancy a cheap weekend Amsterdam i suggest you check them out! beware though this is a low-cost airline comparable to Ryan-Air with similar on board service (or lack thereof) they have their own planes but have also been know to make use of a charter company named Onur Air; although that probably won't happen again soon as Onur Air has recently been banned from airports in France, Germany, Switzerland and The Netherlands because of a bad track record regarding safety! The only airport still allowing flights from Onur Air is a low cost airport in the vicinity of Brussels named Charleroi Airport. FD

A lot of the Liverpool supporters groups charter flights are coming into the airport next week, so it should be busy for at least a couple of days.

Outlines transit options to/from SAW. thanks YabanciAnne this is useful info and will give them a call. i had a look earlier at the 'iett' website and found that line 16 (in front of my house) will go from Kadikoy to Pendik but then i still need to get from the coast to the airport... so not ideal. now it looks like i can jump on Ulusoy service to Kucukyali and get the airport service from there. i'll let you know how i get on! From Sabiha Gökçen Airport & From Kozyatağı to Sabiha Gökçen Airport:ShuttleHavaş Shuttle Services for Istanbulunfortunately frequency of departure times is very low and services between airport and city terminal (Kozyatağı) are scheduled according to arrival times of the flights (Turkish Airlines only) meaning one has to take very long waiting times into account. and no flights means no shuttle service! so it is recommended to make a phone call to the Havaş - Kozyatağı office first to inquire about any scheduled flights. i ended up using a taxi instead due to the unsociable hour the plane arrived (past midnight) and service to the airport was at 18.30 hours... i didn't want to sit around for 6 hours at this boring, boring airport. we also missed the last Havaş Shuttle Service (00:00 hours) going out from the airport and again had to use a taxi. the travel company 'corendon' who the flight was booked with provided only a shuttle service if one had booked a hotel with them. needless to say these hotels are only located on the European side and thus a shuttle service for the Anatolian side is non-existent! ooh God it pays to own a car at times like this! cos getting to Sabiha Gökçen Airport and back (from the Anatolian side) by car is a breeze compared to Ataturk Airport. The other night when I was taking a taxi, I noticed a Sabiha Gökçen airport office right across the road from the Havaş stop (for Ataturk Airport) in Taksim. There were about 30 people waiting outside with bags, so there may be a shuttle service from there.

just to let you know, Easy Jet are starting flights from Luton to Istanbul SG airport from end of June, prices are good, Istanbul to Luton from 49 - 79 pounds one way depending on the day of travel, and Luton to Istanbul 96 - 120 pounds again one way depending on day of travel.

Any developments on the shuttle/dolmus frequency? Has anyone flown Easyjet yet from Sabiha?
