Cool article this morning from the New York Times on Sao Paolo. Is it time to explore a new destination?

IT'S a sultry January day in São Paulo, and dozens of people are dining beneath a gargantuan fig tree with dramatic horizontal limbs reminiscent of "Jurassic Park." An entire restaurant has been built around this 130-year-old tree, and the expansive glass-ceilinged patio is so ingeniously constructed that it's hard to tell whether they are sitting inside or out.

A friend has recently been working there; his verdict - a toilet, with a vast wealth gap

Why SP when there is Rio and Buenos Aries?

Like the sound of a restaurant set around a 130 year old tree, though. But can it beat the giant 600 yr old plane trees in Eyup Cami?

All have huge wealth gaps, as does Istanbul.

Fancy SP over Rio simply due to reputation although Argentina is a top destination too.
Brazil is all over the media now for promo purposes - let's just hope it improves it's crime rates and lives up to the economic promises.

Ditto Charly. I hear good things about Buenos Aires as well. I'll have to find a companion to go there. After all, it takes two to tango, right?

There are two 150-year old acacia trees in my family's compound in the Philippines. My my dad's grandpa planted it. The huge trunk is great for climbing and the enormous span of canopy shades the entire basketball court and beyond.

Is the oldest tree in Turkey actually in a sleepy village just outside of Bursa? My ex-bf took me there and we had tea under that very old tree. Ah...memories.
