Post Your top 5 places in Turkey
As I am off for a walk about in a weeks time and will be going to a few places down south I was wondering what your favourite places are in Turkey (outside of Istanbul and Ankara of course).

Remember these are your favourite places and not what the tourist guide tells you.

1: Datca peninsular
2: Taurus mountains behind Fethiye
3: Bodrum at night
4: Antalya region
5: Alsancak (Izmir)

We'll be in and around the Didum / Bodrum area in the week of 19th - 27th so if you're around let us know, as we'll have access to babysitters!

Uludag was bloody beautiful in Autumn last year (at least until you get above the treeline i.e. not the ski station) but I've not been many other places so I'll build my list as I go along.

I agree that Uludağ is among the best places in Turkey even in Summer but I just think that it's better to go there for camping and BBQ, spending one night watching the stars for the romantic people...
but not longer than two or three days

Have no idea where it was / is but we found these ruins (see link)

http://forum.expatinturkey.com/album_pic.php?pic_id=236

set on top of a large hill between Gonen and Bergama a few years ago. No tourists or restrictions to allow us to roam around and work out the layout; in short a brilliant afternoon.
