Sheesh. Check the CNBC-E website.

RTÜK, the tv and radio watchdog, suspended CNBC-E's regular broadcast for an hour due to a complaint they received regarding an episode of Carnival. The suspension had to take place during the time slot of the erstwhile offending show, which is why the regular run of The Sopranos was interrupted this week, and was instead replaced by that documentary about the bird sanctuary.

It has nothing to do with how long i was in the womb, Arikan...it has nothing to do
with my 'patience'...it has to do with the fact that i don't sit around watching tv all
day and so when the ONE program i DO watch regularly is supposed to be on, and
it's not, i don't know what to think...so i asked you guys who are among the best
informed beings on the planet...you know everything, so i asked...

and the CNBC-E website...is it in English?? last time i looked, it wasn't...
my first instinct, however, is to check the Digiturk site, since that's the service
i get here....and i did...they said NOTHING about the change or the ceza...

go figure.
thanks.

We've told you before that you should check CNBC-E's website, and not Digiturk's. Besides, the information about the suspension preceeded the actual documentary.

Also, don't get defensive. It has a piteous quality.

The fact that last weeks Soprano's was the season finale might not help either. CNBC-E transmitting inbred pr0n masquerading as "the carnival" doesn't help though. The carnival of what? 6 fingers and webbed feet! And what a ridiculous punishment dealt out by the broadcasting authorities, having watched a couple of minutes of that bird sanctuary thing on the advice of my girlfriend (a producer herself) I can't help but feel it was the viewing public who were the ones punished.

since i don't watch tv on a regular basis, what does the fact that this other program, 'carnival',
offended somebody and was 'punished' have to do with the Sopranos? Shouldn't they have taken
Carnival off the air as punishment?? what a screwy decision!!!

as far as the bird thing - well, personally, i like birds...i've been a 'bird artist' for many years...
but NOT when i want to watch the Sopranos!!!

If they made an announcement prior to the show, well, i missed that too...
i was in my office working waiting to hear the theme song but that's not what i heard...
by the time i reached the tv, the bird thing was on...

it was a mystery...

but Arikan, tv affectionato that he is, was able to clarify the whole mess...
good thing someone's paying attention to these things!!

What the fcuk is an "affectianato?" Is that a musical movement, or aficionado, misspelled?

They started showing The Sopranos in the same spot as they used to Carnival. Thankfully, they waited for the second season to end before carrying out the punishment. No idea why they could not show the bird documentary (cockumentary?) during The Sopranos's arbitrary summer hiatus.

I also agree with Ian, that Carnival was not only shit, but that the punishment was worse then the actual "misdemeanor."

Anyway, the third season of The Sopranos starts next week.

Finally, people who perfunctorily shun television on pure whimsy have horseshit for brains.

The idea is that, when a TV channel broadcasts something offensive (in this case, something deemed pornographic, although I found it offensive because it was shit!) then they get made to transmit something educational as a punishment, logical.

Not just because it was deemed pornographic (though CNBC-E did cut the shit out of Rome for that very reason). Carnivale, for example, was considered to be a bad influence on the impressionable young, but not on pornographic grounds.

The introduction of television ratings will enable CNBC-E to circumvent any such misunderstandings in the future, hopefully.

I have to also make the point regarding the CNBC-E website that although it is in Turkish it is not at all hard to use it and follow the schedule on it using a small amount of common sense. For example this is the schedule for that day clearly showing the bird documentary in place of the Sopranos http://www.cnbce.com/yayin2.asp (çarşamba 21.00)
