Post Lost Spoilers Thread - Huge Spoilers for Upcoming Season
Lost's third season is only a couple of months away. I thought we split the regular "Lost" discussion thread, where we only discuss up to and including the most recent episode on Digiturk, and we can keep the spoilers for all upcoming episodes here. See, rules help control the fun.

Here's what's making the rounds:

- Fake HENRY real name is Thomas Radzinsky
- Chris Shephard is both Jack's and Claire's Father
- Kate chooses Sawyer
- Rose dies this season of Cancer
- Sayid manages to rescue Kate & Sawyer but not Jack
- There is no Walt/Michael in the mini-series start to the Season
- There will be a Danielle flashback this season
- Locke leg injury was never a physical injury
- Libby's last name is Winchester
- Libbys husband was killed in the decking accident that Hurley thought he caused
- Libby was after Hurleys money as revenge
- Locke was responsible for Shannon's Fathers death
- Karen DeGroot and DR Marvin will be found in the Flame Station
- The Flame station is Partly underwater

Episode Flashbacks
E01 "A Tale of Two Cities" - KATE
E02 "380 Baht" JACK
E03 "Admission" LIBBY
E04 "11-80" LOCKE
E05 "Désolé" Danielle
E06 "Last Man Standing" DESMOND
E07 "Missing" Penny/Realtime off island
E08 "An English Rose" EKO
E09 "Remission" Rose/Bernard
E10 "He can never know" Sun

The BLOW us away MOMENT is!!
"This is quite good actually. We have a flashback or so we think to Penny watching the news just after the phone call she received from the artic monitoring station. It shows that Flight 815 is still "missing" one week after its disappearence and the previous couple of months have actually taken place in a week. The time on the island runs a lot quicker than the outside world. It's a real wtf moment."

PRODUCTION BEGINS IN HAWAII ON THIRD SEASON EPISODES OF THE AWARD WINNING, ACTION-PACKED MYSTERY AND ADVENTURE SERIES, "LOST"

Series Season Premiere is October 4

"Lost" - awarded the 2005 Emmy and 2006 Golden Globe for best drama series - has begun production in Hawaii on third season episodes of action-packed mystery and adventure -- that will continue to bring out the very best and the very worst in the people who are lost. The series will have its season premiere WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

After Oceanic Air flight 815 tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a Pacific island, its survivors were forced to find inner strength they never knew they had in order to survive. But they discovered that the island holds many secrets, including a mysterious smoke monster, polar bears, a strange French woman and another group of island residents known as "The Others." The survivors have also found signs of those who came to the island before them, including a 19th century sailing ship called The Black Rock, the remains of an ancient statue and bunkers belonging to the Dharma Initiative, a group of scientific researchers.

Jack, Kate and Sawyer open the season in captivity as prisoners of "The Others." Just who these "Others" are and what they want are primary questions Season Three will explore. Michael Emerson joins the regular cast in his ongoing role as Henry Gale, leader of "The Others." Romance looms on the horizon as Jack's interests veer towards a mysterious new woman, whose motives may be questionable. Sun and Jin will continue to celebrate their pregnancy - but is the child really Jin's? Locke and Sayid will band together with some of the other survivors and journey across the island in an attempt to free Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Charlie will attempt to return into the good graces of Claire and her baby, Aaron, but can he be trusted to stay clean and sober? The fates of Locke, Desmond and Mr. Eko in the aftermath of the implosion of the hatch are answered. Will Penny Widmore find the island and her long, lost love, Desmond, and can the survivors find a way to interact with the outside world?

The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 60-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets.

"Lost" stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Mr. Eko, Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond, Emilie de Ravin as Claire, Michael Emerson as Henry Gale, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet, Dominic Monaghan as Charlie and Terry O'Quinn as Locke.

"Lost" was created by Jeffrey Lieber and J.J. Abrams & Damon Lindelof. Abrams, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Jack Bender, Jeff Pinkner and Carlton Cuse serve as executive producers. "Lost," which is filmed entirely on location in Hawaii and premiered on September 22, 2004, is from Touchstone Television.

The latter post is a press release; the former is from a relatively reliable fansite.

Here're some more rumours/spoilers. They contradict the earlier ones. Oh, the internet...

Episode 3.02: Further Instructions (Claire-centric)
Airdate: October 11, 2006

It's Claire-centric and her flashback features Mike and Jan, a hippie-ish couple in their 50's. They are warm and kind, but also tough and protective when the situation calls for it.

Episode 3.03: We're the Good Guys (Sawyer-centric)
Airdate: October 18, 2006

More mysteries about the others are revealed. We find out how Sawyer has a strange connection with Henry Gale (Michael Emerson). We also find out what Kate's "Big Decision" is.

Episode 3.04: Blackrock and Roll (Daniel-centric)
Airdate: October 25, 2006

At long last we finally get the story behind Mira Furlan's character Daniel Rousseau. We see the Blackrock again and how it is connected to the infamous Alvar Hanso. Also, John remembers things.

Episode 3.05: Another One of Them (Charlie-centric)
Airdate: November 1, 2006

Once Charlie and Claire's romance begins to spark, Charlie wakes up in what looks like the same room with chains we have previously seen Jack, Sawyer, and Kate in. We meet a young teenage "Other" that goes by the name of 'Chester' and appears to be some sort of rebel.

Episode 3.06: Man is Blessed With curiosity (No specified centric)
Airdate: November 8, 2006 (2 hours)

John, Desmond, Eko, Sayid, Charlie, Chester, and Hurley begin the ever forgotten army that Jack came up with earlier in season 2. We see the smoke monster again but this time, it doesn't look too happy.
(Quite a spoiler, highlight to read) "Sawyer appears to have the 'the sickness,' mysterious holes appear in Eko's hands, and we see a short glimpse of Ana Lucia, Libby, Boone, and Shannon at the sight of the smoke monster"
In last night's episode, the smoke monster killed Mr. Eko.

First of all, I wrote the following at the end of last season:

Quote:
(A)side: What a great way to maintain a large cast: Introduce new secondary characters, see if they work well with the cast and the audience. If they do, keep them on and kill off a previous regular to make way for the former in the budget. If they don't, top them off unceremoniously, announce that it had been the plan all along, and audition for new secondary cast

Nostradamus? Nostradumbass, more like.

Secondly, the show's very raison d'etre, its cardinal foundations, and the writers' inherent desire to keep the audience in suspense, while maintaining a semblance of continuity, has become its own worst enemy. Let me further explain that by taking a page from Alan Moore's proposal for Twilight of the Superheroes: The writers have to reinforce the idea of the island as a magical and fascinating concept in itself in order to keep viewers hooked upon the show.

This very approach has caused the current crisis. The flashbacks have been sucking ass, which has made the multitude of characters look merely banal, and this, in turn, has cheapened the show's entire continuity in the long term along with its credibility, whatever the short term benefits in terms of ratings might be. Thus, the only recourse left for the writers is to greater acts of debasement in order to attract viewer attention: more deaths to appease the arena crowd element in the fan marketplace, eventually degenerating into a geek show.

The only way to make this even worse would be by introducing "comic book death syndrome" to the island.

Having said that, I think the overall arc for this season is much better thought out than the one for the last season(They get into the hatch. Then what? Errr, they push a button? OK, Suspensor!); and even though I succumbed to the temptation and spoiled myself silly for the first six episodes, I will remain spoiler free for the remaining 17. It's still an interesting show.
