Dear All,
TRT is looking for Turkih/foreign married couples to showcase in 30 minute segments for a series they are doing about marrying into Turkish culture. Foreign women AND men wanted for participation. If anyone is interested, here are the details... They interviewed me and hubby last month, as well as starry and his gal. Aside from TRT not wanting to cover any issues with potentially negative insinuations, the experience was pretty good! The crew was a lot of fun to boot. Here is a message from the host of the show, an American who has lived in Turkey for 40+ years...

This message goes to all the wonderfully strong minded women of the turkey's foreign-wives community!
TRT is producing a series of programs telling the "love" stories of the foreigners (males are also invited) who have changed their whole way of life by marrying a turkish citizen and assuming the country and customs of their spouse, as their new way of life.
TRT has been lucky enough to have interviewed a lovely and gentle piano playing Japanese girl, Jennifer Eaton Gokmen (american - who many of you know), an English gentleman settling foreigners in Istanbul, a fabulous male artist from Azerbaijan and an Argentinean wonder woman living in Konya. They have an Australian, German and Russian lined up but you see, they need a lot more and will want to double up on many of the nationalities.
TRT will be visiting quite a few more cities to interview the girls and guys that they have lined up and would like to have a good representation of all nationalities.
TRT needs a few more foreigners living both in and outside of Ankara. you may be interested for yourself or know someone in another city who will personally be interested in joining the show??? do have her/him contact me.
------ do not be scared to tell your story ----
TRT is trying to make it fun and humorous in addition to showing the serious side of what so many of us have experienced. it is not a live show. It is filmed - then edited - which means that you may freely remove or have cut any part that you were not comfortable with. Politics or touchy subjects are not discussed; so do not feel that you will be embarrassed in front of the whole country. The purpose of the program is to show the foreigners' side of the struggle to make our lives a success. Whether we are here to help the Turkish society or just do basic improvements in our own everyday lives; TRT wants to hear about it.
The interviews are done with the spouse next to the foreigner.
I know, I know - it may be difficult for some of you to get your husbands to join you (or for that matter - even allow you) in front of the camera...the girls have had some darlings (turkish husbands) join them so far. Two programs in particular were a hoot! The program is done in Turkish and it does not matter if your Turkish is not perfect - speak slowly and let that strength come forth.
So get your "darlin'" to consent and let me hear from those of you who may be interested in going on camera to tell your new life story, --- it is not difficult!
Call me any of the listed days between 9:00 and 11:00 (a.m. - that is!) available dates: nov 27, 28, dec 6, 7, 11, 12, 13. We can go over the details or I will answer any questions you may have, then pass your name and information on to TRT.
Hoping to hear from many of you, so that a good representation of all countries can be put forth. Thanking you for your help and taking this opportunity to wish each of you a very merry Christmas and happy New Year; I remain;
With kind regards,
Elizabeth Berent
